CIGNA Health Care announced today that it is one of four companies to have been awarded a contract to provide medical benefits to Arizona's state employees, university employees and retirees. The contract becomes effective October 1, 2009.

New CIGNA customers from the State of Arizona will have access to a variety of programs and resources to help to maintain and improve their health. Some of these programs include personalized and private support by nurse advocates to help manage chronic conditions ranging from diabetes to low back pain; lifestyle programs to help with stress, weight management or tobacco cessation; online health coaching for issues ranging from nutrition to sleep; and the Healthy Pregnancy Program which encourages early prenatal care and offers incentives to enroll early. CIGNA is available for customer service inquiries 24 hours a day every day of the week.
CIGNA offers a comprehensive network of health care professionals in Arizona, including 11,787 physicians, 78 hospitals, 67 urgent care clinics and over 40 convenience care clinics in virtually every metropolitan and rural community in the state. Arizona State employees, University employees and retirees will have access to CIGNA's national seamless network of health care professionals which includes 550,000 physicians and 5,100 hospitals. In the Phoenix-metro area, the network also includes access to 200-plus clinicians exclusive to Cigna Medical Group--the multi-specialty group practice of CIGNA Health Care of Arizona.
