PORTLAND - Oregon will be holding its first and unique state lottery where health insurances will be given away as prizes. By this week, the state of Portland will begin to draw names as a part of their lottery that is been designed for students, unemployed and the employed without workplace benefits, people not poor enough for Medicaid but too cash strapped to buy their own insurance.
Nearly 80,000 people have signed up for a chance to win these health insurances, but only few thousand will be chosen. The insurance lottery winners will be chosen in a series of drawings which might take a few months. The Oregon lottery system was designed to give everybody an equal chance to be selected, so those who need assistance or extra time to complete their forms would have an equal chance to win.
