KENTUCKY - According to the bill that was passed yesterday by the Kentucky House of Representatives; Insurers would be required to offer parents the option of including their unmarried young adults on their health insurance policies until the age of 25. The measure is intended to decrease the number of youngsters who lack health insurance. House Bill 440 has passed 97-0 and goes to the Senate for consideration.
Now the parents will have to pay extra to have their young adult included into their health plans. The bill was backed by the Kentucky Medical Association, also would require an insurer to give a health care provider for more specific fee schedules. Insurers would also have to give 90 days' notice before making any changes in the payment rate.
