Portland, Oregon. - The health insurance plans which cover the prescription drugs in Oregon should also cover birth control. According to a spokesperson from Planned Parenthood of the Columbia/Willamette, the organization was fighting for this for the past 15 years. The spokesperson also added that, the organization is pushing this because, all women needs to have access to birth control as it is a basic care for women. Now the law might affect about 1.4 million people in Oregon, which is been covered by private insurance; both poor people and public employees are covered under this Oregon Health Plan. The bill which is been passed requires hospitals to provide emergency contraceptives to those women who seek care after sexual assaults. It also covers treatment for drug-related and alcohol illness/injuries, even chemotherapy treatment options is been included in this health plan.
