Legislation has been approved by the Maryland Senate that will increase the government funded programs which will offer medical coverage for more than 800,000 people in Maryland. The Senate has voted 30-17 to pass this bill. This will help more adults to be eligible for Medicaid, extended insurance premium subsidies to smaller businesses and their staffs and the state-federal health insurance program will be given for the poor. When implemented fully, the expansion for the health care will cost about $600 million along with the federal matching funds. How quickly and to what extent the programs are implemented will depend on the funding.
