Alaska is one of 17 states having a deficit in federal funding for children's health insurance. It's a shortfall Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue expects to change.
Perdue would address the issue last week before Congress. He says a malfunction in the funding has meant states are running short of money, while $1 billion in federal children's health insurance plan money remains unspent. He says that's enough to cover the shortfalls in all 17 states.
