Medicare Plans
Medicare health plans cover many of your health care
needs. Today’s Medicare
health insurance plans are working with private companies’ health
plans to provide different ways of health care coverage in the Medicare
plan program. The Medicare health insurance plan that you choose
affects many things like cost, benefits, doctor choice, convenience,
and other quality as well. Your Medicare health plan choices include:
The Original Medicare Plan
– This is actually a fee-for-service health plan that covers many
health care services and many certain drugs. You can go to any doctor
or any preferred hospital that accepts Medicare Health
Insurance. When you get your health care, you can use your red,
white, and blue Medicare cards for further access.
The Original Medicare Plan pays for many health care
services and few supplies, but it doesn’t pay all of your health
care costs. There are costs that you are liable to pay, like coinsurance,
co-payments, and some of the deductibles. These costs are known
as “gaps” in Medicare Health coverage. You may desire to consider
buying a Medigap policy to cover these gaps in Medicare coverage.
You also have an option to add prescription drug coverage by joining
a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.
Medicare Advantage Plans –
These Medicare Health Insurance Plans are available in many areas.
If you have one of these Health plans, you don’t require a Medigap
policy. These plans include:
• Health Maintenance Organizations - HMO Health
Insurance plan,
• Preferred Provider Organizations - PPO Health Insurance plan
• Private Fee-for-Service Health Insurance Plans
• Medicare Special Needs Health Insurance Plans
These Health Insurance plans would cover more services
and have lower pocket costs than the Original Medicare Health Insurance
Plan. Some Medicare Health
plans cover prescription drugs. In some Health plans, like HMOs,
you would only be able to see certain doctors or go to certain hospitals
to get covered services as there are restrictions on it.
Medicare Prescription Drug Plans –
These stand-alone plans add prescription drug coverage to the Original
Medicare Health Plan and to some Medicare Cost Health Plans
and Medicare Private Fee-for-Service Health Plans.
