Health insurance
Infirmity for non-work related injuries can be financial
over-whelming. Health
insurance can assist you and give you protection against the catastrophic
health care operating cost and the lost salaries. If you are working,
your employer may provide you with this offer and if not provided you
can also purchase this health
insurance plan on individual basis, through an insurance agent who
is licensed by state to sell health insurance goods.
Health insurance is a type of insurance whereby the medical
expenses of the person who is insured is paid by the insurer if the insured
becomes sick due to covered causes, or due to accidents. The insurer may
be a private organization or a government agency.
Health Insurance Types
There are basically two kinds of heath
insurance: Fee-for-Service and Managed
Care. Even though these plans differ, they both cover a range of medical,
surgical and hospital operating cost. Most wrap prescription drugs and
some also proffer dental coverage.
1. Fee-for-Service
These heath insurance plans usually believe that the medical
professional will be paid a fee for each service provided to the patient.
Patients are seen by a doctor of their choice and the claim is filed by
either the medical provider or the patient.
2. Managed Care
More than half of all Americans have some kind of managed
heath
care plan. Various plans work differently and can include: health
maintenance organizations (HMO
health plan), preferred provider organizations (PPO
health plan) and point-of-service (POS
health plan) plans. These Health plans provide comprehensive
health services to their members and offer financial incentives
to patients who use the providers in the plan.
