Is Your Business qualified for Group Health Insurance Coverage?
This
insurance policy is especially for the business with at least
2 and not more than 50 employees.
Under California law AB1672, small employers are guaranteed
group
insurance coverage should they choose to purchase it, regardless of
the employees' health status. A "small employer" is defined
as a business with 2 to 50 full-time employees, holders are in general
reckoned as employees, so only proprietorships with one member of staff
fall into this class, as do partnerships without any workers (by definition
partnerships have two or more partners).
California state law AB1672 says that small employers cannot
be deprived of insurance coverage only if they:
• Disburse their premiums.
• Have business longer than 2 months.
• Provide medical insurance coverage to every one-eligible full-and-part-time
employees.
• Obey with insurer necessities concerning employer role and employee
contribution.
• Have not committed scam or fraud against the insurer.
Who Is Eligible for Group Health Insurance Coverage?
The basic rule is that if an employer proffers group
health
insurance to any full-time employee, then the employer must provide
the insurance coverage to every full-time employee. As for part-time employees,
the employer has choice of whether to proffer coverage to them. If by
chance an employer has an idea to provide
health insurance coverage to a part-time employee then the employer
is supposed to proffer it to every part-time worker.
These regulations apply in spite of the medical situation
of the staff. In other words, any entitled employee can't be deprived
of coverage based on prior medical troubles, or else known as pre-existing
conditions.
Additionally, any dependents of entitled workers are also
normally entitled for coverage under a group
health insurance plan. Dependents take in spouses, children, and in
some cases, unmarried domestic partners. Dependents can register for coverage
only if the employee has registered and enrolled.
